Saturday Ramen

Hey folks!

This afternoon, around 1:00 p.m., my friend and I were walking through Charlottenburg, feeling slightly hungry but not famished.

We decided on finding a Japanese ramen spot to quench our craving. With an overwhelming number of choices on Google Maps, we sought recommendations on the Berlin subreddit, /r/berlin, for a good place nearby.

Sadly, my preferred ramen haunt, Cocolo Ramen located at Gipsstr. 3, 10119 Berlin, doesn’t open until 9:00 p.m. and was a bit out of reach for us at that moment. So, we opted for XXX Ramen Berlin instead.

The restaurant wasn’t too crowded, the staff were welcoming, the place was clean, and they offered an good selection of ramen dishes. We both chose the Tonkotsu ramen, known for its origin in Fukuoka, Fukuoka Prefecture on the Kyushu island of Japan. It’s a specialty dish in both Fukuoka (referred to as Hakata ramen) and Kyushu.

Our ramen bowls arrived promptly and without a long wait, and both the taste and presentation were good. But they weren’t able to beat my favorite Cocolo Ramen, but well worth a visit.
